The wine cellar that you have just entered in the town of Molsheim is in the celebrated Alsacian wine producing area of France. Its worldwide reputation for fine white wines indudes an excellent ratio of quality to price. Situated in eastem France, the country of great wines, Alsace is a region producing wines of high quality that are strictly regulated and called wines of "Appellation d'origine Controlee".

 

In 1909 Ettore Bugatti, backed by an Alsacian banker named de Viscaya, came to Molsheim to manufacture cars that became famous throughout the world. His racing car Type 35 and his luxurious Royales were the milestones of this legendary make. Today, it is the vineyards of Molsheim that uphold the prestige ofthe city.

 

The finest section of the Molsheim vineyards is the Bruderthal, one of the grand crus of Alsace. This vineyard used ta be partially owned by the Carthusian monastery of Molsheim. Today Bernard Weber owns and produces wine from eight acres of this vineyard. Another vineyard formerly owned by the monastery, the Finkenberg, produced most of its wines for the Royal Court of England. A portion of this vineyard has been in the Weber family since the Seventeenth Century.

 

Bernard Weber's domaine includes a two-acre plot planted with the Sylvaner grape on old vines thirty years of age. Bernard Weber's cellar has been successively the property of Cistercian, Carthusian and Jesuit monks. His wines have been divine!

 

The French Guide Hachette des Vins granted Bernard Weber's wines their supreme award in 1992, the "Grappe d'Or", stating that the quality of the wines of this exceptional vintner places his cellar as a part of the world of excellence.

All of our wines are harvested by hand,
and the pressing is performed mainly on whole grapes.
